Valka Local History Museum
At the end of the 19th century in this building Jānis Cimze taught the first Vidzeme Parish school teacher training seminary. Because of this, popularizing cultural heritage of lecturer and choir culture founder Jānis Cimze and his students, has become museum’s main mission. Museum’s special offer – exhibition”Valka-Latvian independence cradle” has been opened in honour of Latvia’s 100th birthday.
Lugaži Evangelical Lutheran Church
The first written record of the church dates from 1477. Different historical styles can be seen in the exterior in the church, it is due to the church had to be rebuilt and repaired after frequent wars.The church is currently active. The church tower nowadays is used as view platform with splendid view of Valka and Valga- one city, two countries
Pedele Nature Trail and Putraskalns Arbour
This is a nice place for walking or cycling. Putraskalns arbour offers a good view of Valka-Valga: one city – two states. The walking trail crosses the border and then continues along local foothpaths and river`s beach belt.
