During the Second World War, there was a camp for prisoners of war in the territory of the current Priimets Industrial Estate where the former stables of the Estonian Army had been converted into prisons. The Stalag 351 Camp was founded in summer 1941 for captured soldiers fighting in the Red Army and Camp 187 for German prisoners of war was founded instead of it in 1944.
One of the most important battles of the War of Independence took place near the Paju Manor on 31 January 1919. The Northern Sons Regiment that consisted of Finnish volunteers also fought for the independence of Estonia over here. The most legendary commander in the War of Independence, Lieutenant Julius Kuperjanov, was fatally injured in the battle. The battle memorial is a granite pillar on a three-level pyramid, which was reopened on the 75th anniversary of the battle on 30 January 1994.
Hargla tavern is first mentioned in 1667. The current building is likely to be built in the first half of the 19th century. The Hargla village square next to the tavern building offers hikers an opportunity to rest and use a variety of facilities.
The current stone curch was built in 1821. On 1873-1875 the church got new larger windows, high tower and spacious altar room as an extension. The altarpiece is painted by Emil Jacobs and is a true gem of the church.
King of Poland Stefan Batory granted Valga town bylaws on 11 June 1584. The monument on Kesk Street was erected in 2002 in cooperation between Valga City and the embassies of Hungary and Poland
Weightlifter Alfred Neuland (1895-1966) who was born in Valga is the first Estonian Olympic Champion. He returned with a gold medal from the Antwerp Olympic Games in 1920.
The church was built in 1897-1898 from red and yellow bricks and has five domes and a bell tower. It’s one of the four representative churches of the Apostolic Orthodox Church in Estonia. The church is named after the priest martyr Isidore of Tartu.
The church was built in 1907. Lithuanian and Polish railway workers were actively involved in building work. The church operated until 1940 and from 1945 was used as a warehouse and later as a gym. The church does not have a tower as the imperial government of Russia refused to give permission to build one

This memorial, which is dedicated to the freedom fighters of southern Estonia, represents the figure of an unknown soldier. The design of the memorial was made in 1925 by Amandus Adamson. Original was destroyed on 1940. The new memorial was inaugurated on 2013 in the original location
