On Friday 1 June, a meeting was held on the development of the “Valgas-Valka Twins city Centre”, where the representatives of the municipalities of Valga and Valka discussed the project’s marketing activities. The participants discussed the project’s goals for marketing and promotion and their achievement in the design of the Valga-Valka centre. Regular press releases and publications, various internet marketing techniques, marketing material preparation, organisation of tourism and investment promotion activities are provided for the newly created Twin city centre to promote visibility, Participation in various tourism and investment promotion networks, creation of a joint tourism information point, etc. In the near future, it is planned to develop a communication and marketing plan including specific marketing and promotion activities and timetables.
The aim of the project “Valga-Valka Twins city Centre” is to create a common cross-border outdoor space on the Estonian – Latvian border, in Valga – wearing. The project provides for the construction of a pedestrian bridge with a swing over a frog, a central square with a stage/pass and a children’s playground, a pedestrian trails along the frog, a centre of cultural and sporting activities at the Ramsi watermill, as well as at Raina/Sõpruse Street stage. From Latgales Street in Latvia to the Raja Street in Estonia transform into a pedestrian street. The total cost of the planned project is 3,529,411.76 EUR of which 85 or 2,999,999.98 EUR is INTERREG Estonia-Latvia cross-border cooperation programme 2014-2020 funding (ERDF).
The chair took part at the meeting of the President Vents Armands Krauklis, Gunta Smane, Ainārs Zābers, Zane bruvere and Jan Putniņa from Valka District Council, Sanda Strazdiņš and Dainis Chapiņš from the tourist information office of Valka, and President Margus Lepik, Anni Teetsmann and Põim Kama from Valga municipality.
