The steam engine monument erected near the Valga railway station in 1998 celebrates the 110th anniversary of the Pihkva-Valga-Riga rail connection. Engine SU 251-98 was built in the Sormovo Shipyard in 1949. The engine weighs 87 tons and its output is 12 tons of steam per hour.
Railway station building called Walk was inaugurated in 1889. It was a red-brick building in Historicist style. The historical railway station was destroyed in the battles of World War II. The new station building was completed in 1949. From 2017, the magnificent Stalinist railway station building is under heritage protection.
The Pedeli River that runs through Valga is swelled up into two lakes along the side of those one can walk, cycle and roller-skate. There are playgrounds, rest areas and a beach right by the track. In summer time beachcafe is opened.
Valga Town Hall, built in 1864-1866 is one of the most outstanding examples of Late Classicism wooden architecture in Estonia. This neighbourhood is the city’s oldest settled region. Valga Visitors’ Centre is located on the ground floor of the Town Hall.

Jaani Church, located right in the heart of the city, was built in 1816 according to the design of architect Christoph Haberland and it is the only church in Estonia with an oval ground plan. The unique organ has been preserved in its original shape and it is the only instrument built by Friedrich Ladegast still left in Estonia.
The first written record of the church dates from 1477. Different historical styles can be seen in the exterior in the church, it is due to the church had to be rebuilt and repaired after frequent wars.The church is currently active. The church tower nowadays is used as view platform with splendid view of Valka and Valga- one city, two countries
The territory of the Pedele river is a place for walking, cycling, roller skating! The nature trail connecting the two cities winds along the banks of the Pedele River.
The Open-air stage for song and dance festivals was built in 1969. Its architecture is emphasized by the river Pedele, which flows between the stage and the audience.The attractive, well-maintained surroundings are a great settig for cultural and sports events. Stage has places for 2000 people and audience about 2000 seats.
