On Monday, December 9th in Valga Visitor Center a tripartite contract will be signed between Valga Municipality Government, Valka Municipality Council and the construction company AS “TREV-2 Grupp” regarding the commencement of construction work of the “Valga – Valka Twin Town Centre Development” project.
During the construction works it is planned to build a pedestrian bridge with a swing over Pedele reservoir Varžupīte, central square with a stage / pass and children’s playground, pedestrian trails alongside Varžupīte, a centre of cultural and sporting activities at the Ramsi watermill, as well as Raiņa / Sõpruse street section between Latgale street in Latvia to Raja street in Estonia to be transformed into a pedestrian street thus connecting the twin city centers.
Total costs of the project 4 935 767,48 EUR including ERAF funding 3 000 000,00 EUR, Valka Municipality Council budget in project 3 184 343,01 EUR, including European financing 1 511 289,19 EUR and State Budget Support of 88,899.36 EUR.
Total construction costs: Valga 1 938 592 EUR, Valka 2 977 308 EUR.
